One killed, another injured in head-on crash on Highway 154

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 154 in Santa Barbara County Friday.

At around 10:44 a.m., County Fire responded to reports of a head-on collision on Highway 154 at East Camino Cielo.

Firefighters arrived on scene and reported finding heavy damage to both cars.

One person was killed and another was taken to the hospital in critical condition, county fire said..

Firefighters had to use heavy extrication tools to get the critical patient out of the car.

California Highway Patrol placed traffic restrictions in the area. Drivers should take Highway 101 to avoid any slowdowns.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
