SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara Mayor Cathy Murillo said that Santa Barbara City Council unanimously approved the revised proposal for a hotel to be built on Montecito and Bath Streets during their Council Meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The original project plan was brought before City Council by its developer, Ed St. George, during a meeting in November, but was one vote away from being turned down.

St. George agreed to revise the plan to include six housing units for rent to replace the four that would be demolished.

The developer also reduced the overall footprint of the structure after hearing concerns about the size and height of the building.

The revised proposal was presented to City Council during their meeting on Tuesday.

After a couple more hours of discussion and presentations, the City Council voted unanimously in favor of the hotel.

With these changes, the new structure will hopefully bring more housing to that area of Santa Barbara.
