Sleep in Heavenly Peace fundraiser held in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif.
The California Pizza Kitchen in Santa Barbara helped out the new chapter of a nonprofit called Sleep in Heavenly Peace. (SHP)
CPK gave 20 percent of its proceeds to SHP when customers mentioned the nonprofit on Wednesday night.
Co-chair Amanda Tempest filled a table with volunteers and supporters.
"Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a national nonprofit that builds, assembles and delivers bunk beds to kids in need. When we heard about this organization we knew we had to start a chapter here in Santa Barbara, so we are just getting on our feet and trying to raise some funds to get some tools and supplies," said Tempest.
She said their goal is make sure all children have beds.
She said new SHP chapters are spreading across the country,
SHP volunteers build beds for kids who are sleeping on the floor.
Participants can help with the next Build Day or Delivery event.
Their holiday wish list includes funding a storage unit, a trailer, and a team pickup truck.
