Carpinteria City Council votes in favor of dog parks
CARPINTERIA, Calif. -- Council members voted in favor of creating a dog park.
Dogs owners said they have been worried about getting tickets when they let their pets run off leash.
They hope this will help them enjoy the outdoors with their pets in safe and legal spaces.
Members of the Carpinteria Dog Owner Group known as C-Dog applaud the decision.
Van Fleisher likes to bring his dog Yogi to El Carro Park.
He said the people at the park look after the dogs and each other.
"I have only been here for 7 years. When I got here I knew nobody, I came to the park with a dog and suddenly I got dozens of friends, people that during the fires they called and said get ready, during the floods they called, we're just a community that we built through our dogs," said Van Fliesher.
Dog owners hope to have designated dog parks to enjoy by the end of the year.
