SLO Sheriff reports fifth inmate tests positive for COVID-19
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office reports a fifth inmate testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Sheriff's Office reports that the inmates was asymptomatic and was tested positive on Saturday.
The Sheriff's Office says the inmate was recently arrested five days before.
The Sheriff's Office followed health protocols and had the inmate quarantine in a separate unit of the County Jail.
They say there was no exposure to other inmates or jail staff.
Jail staff are required to wear personal protective equipment.
There is a total of five inmates that tested positive for COVID-19 in the San Luis Obispo County Jail.
The first case was back on July 22.
Since March, there has been a total of six Sheriff's Deputies testing positive for the virus. It was three Correctional Deputies and three Patrol Deputies.
The Sheriff's Office says County Jail continues to be vigilant with screening, testing, and isolating sick individuals to protect staff, inmates and the public.
