One dead after car flips over on private road in San Luis Obispo County

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - California Highway Patrol reported that one person died and three sustained non-fatal injuries after a single-vehicle collision in San Luis Obispo County.

The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday. A 1998 military-style two-door Jeep was driving westbound on a private dirt road on private property near Huasna Road. The road was located in an unincorporated area of San Luis Obispo County.

CHP said the vehicle was driving at about 30 miles per hour when the driver made an unsafe left turn that caused the entire vehicle to turn sideways.

The vehicle then overturned and ejected all four of its occupants.

As the vehicle was falling over, the male driver, whose identity has yet to be released, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by San Luis Obispo County EMS personnel.

CHP reported that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The other three occupants of the vehicle sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Garrett Fairchild, 30, of Valencia was transported to Arroyo Grande Hospital for pain to his left wrist. Emily White, 22, of Santa Clarita was taken to Marian Hospital for pain to her back. And the third passenger, Martinique Rowden, 31, from Newhall was taken to Arroyo Grande Hospital for pain in both of her legs.
