CHP arrest two in relation to vehicle pursuit on Highway 101 from Monterey to Paso Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. -- CHP Templeton stopped a pursuit vehicle and arrested two in Paso Robles on Friday afternoon.

Officers arrested Tyler Phillips, 29 and Paul Scrimshire, 37 for reckless evading of a peace officer, possession of methamphetamine for sale, selling, transporting, giving away or administering methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Around 2:00 p.m., a vehicle pursuit began in Monterey County when CHP King City tried to initiate a stop for speed on a white Toyota Camry.

The Camry fled the CHP officers and drove on Highway 101 southbound all the way into San Luis Obispo County.

CHP Templeton tried to spike the vehicle but the vehicle was able to avoid the strips and continue driving.

The Camry exited on 17th Street in Paso Robles and then turned north on Riverside.

The vehicle then went up and turned east on 24th Street before trying to head back onto Highway 101 and Highway 46 east.

CHP was able to pit the Camry on Highway 46 under Highway 101.

Officers arrested the driver and passenger of the Camry.

Officers say both were male.

Traffic was backed up for a period of time.

Officers guided traffic during the period of investigation and clearance of the vehicle.

Phillips and Scrimshire's bail amount was not provided in CHP's arrest report.
