ATASCADERO, Calif. - Atascadero firefighters put out a fire in a home Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported at a home on the 6800 block of Serra Avenue at around 12:30 p.m.

Atascadero Fire Department with assistance from Templeton Fire, Cal Fire, Paso Robles Department of Emergency Services and Atascadero Police responded to the single story family home.

Officials arrived to find heavy fire coming from the front door with smoke coming from the attic and roof.

Crews began their fire attack from the exterior in order to have entry into the interior.

Crews were able to access the inside of the home and were able to stop the forward progress of the fire before it spread to the rest of the residence.

Crews were alerted during dispatch that an elderly resident was unable to evacuate.

Prior to crews arriving, Atascadero Police units and family members were able to evacuate the female occupant from the fire.

The elderly woman was transported to Twin Cities Hospital. She has no injuries from the fire.

Investigators say the fire started in a converted bedroom.

Investigators believe the fire was caused when a faulty electrical outlet sparked and the sparks came into contact with nearby combustibles.

Firefighters contained the fire at around 12:50 p.m.
