The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is seeking grant funding to provide increased patrolling and enforcement of areas where illegal off-road vehicles are being used.

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is seeking grant funding to increase law enforcement patrolling in areas with illegal off-road vehicle use.

The sheriff's office says they've received complaints regarding ATVs being ridden in prohibited areas, primarily in the Santa Ynez riverbed and areas bordering Lompoc.

On Monday, the sheriff's office submitted an application to tate of California Parks and Recreation Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division 2019-20 grant program. 

The application is preliminary and the public is invited to provide feedback before the final application is due in June.

The public can view the grant application and provide comments online, starting Tuesday. Comments will be open for one day.

This is the sixth year the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has applied for this grant funding; it has regularly received the grant funding in previous years.
