SLO police: Designate a sober driver on Super Bowl Sunday
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo City Police Department would like to remind fans who are attending Super Bowl watch parties to ensure they have a safe ride home after the game.
“If you plan on drinking, plan for a ride home with a sober driver,” Sergeant Robert Cudworth said. “Whether your team wins or loses, you’ll always get the ‘W’ by not drinking and driving.”
Super Bowl LIV is broadcasting on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. SLO police said they are increasing patrols that day in order to flag anyone suspected for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
If you are hosting a Super Bowl party, police ask that you be a team player by providing plenty of snacks and non-alcoholic drinks for designated sober drivers.
If a designated sober driver does decide to have a drink, help make sure someone else who has not been drinking is able to pick everyone up.
Police also want to remind the community that walking impaired is dangerous too. If you are walking to or from a bar or party, please make sure there is someone sober to walk home with you.
The San Luis Obispo Police department says no matter who you are rooting for on Super Bowl Sunday, we are all on the same team when the game ends so remember to go safely.
If you see a drunk driver on the roads, please call 911.
