New safety measures for San Luis Obispo kids walking to school
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - New pedestrian crossing equipment arrived in San Luis Obispo on Thursday, allowing contractors to complete their work at the Foothill Boulevard and Ferrini Road intersection.
The City of San Luis Obispo Government posted the news to Facebook Thursday evening.
Due to delays in delivery, the project was pushed back for months.
The new Anholm Pedestrian Crossing will feature a three-headed signal called the Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon.
This type of signal will help control road traffic, allowing pedestrians and bicyclists to cross safely.
"We're excited to move forward on this Safe Route to School crossing," the city said.
