Hundreds of homes near Houston still under evacuation orders as pipeline fire burns for second day

DEER PARK, Texas (AP) — A pipeline fire that erupted in a suburban Houston neighborhood is burning into a second night with still no definitive word on when the blaze would finally go out. It wasn’t clear on Tuesday when people who evacuated may be able to return home, or why a car drove through a fence and hit a valve before the destructive explosion. The fire was gradually getting smaller 36 hours after ignition. But some who were forced to leave after the explosion Monday morning in a grassy corridor between a Walmart and a residential neighborhood were growing weary. Authorities have said there’s no preliminary evidence it was a terrorist attack but haven’t said how they came to that conclusion.
