San Luis Obispo’s Sunset Drive-In movie theater reopens
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Sunset Drive-In theater in San Luis Obispo is reopening Friday after a temporary closure during the pandemic.
The drive-in is expecting 200 to 300 cars Friday and even more on Saturday. People will be physically distanced in their own cars.
The drive-in will have restrooms and a snack bar open, but with new modifications to keep patrons safe, including cleaning restrooms every 30 minutes.
The drive-in expects a lot of visitors this spring and summer.
"We just want everybody to come out here, have a good time," said Operations Manager Martin Smith. "Right now, people are edgy and frustrated with what's been going on ... People have been cooped up. I think it's time to get out - very safely though. "
The drive-in is centering its first week on family movies, like Trolls World Tour and The Secret Life of Pets 2.
They plan to rotate through other movies each week and expect to get newer movie releases in July.
