Man arrested on suspicion of starting Ridge Fire in Santa Barbara County

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. — Santa Barbara County Fire Department crews arrested a man for suspicion of arson in connection to the fire near Hollister Ranch late Saturday.

According to the SBCFD, say an adult male is suspected of intentionally igniting the "Ridge Fire." However, the investigation into the fire is ongoing.

SBCFD crews responded to the initial fire at Hollister Ranch Road around 10:15 p.m. and called the blaze the "Ridge Fire."

As of Sunday afternoon, the fire reached nearly 17 acres with 10% contained, according to the SBCFD.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office triggered an evacuation warning Sunday afternoon. The evacuation warnings are for the Alegria Canyon and Hollister Ranch area near the fire, according to the Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management.
