Voters head to the polls as California joins Super Tuesday states

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - For the first time, California voters are heading to the polls on Super Tuesday. Voting locations opened at 7 a.m. across the state.

The California primary joins 13 other states and American Samoa, putting more than 1,300 pledge delegates up for grabs in the democratic race for a presidential nominee. California is the biggest prize, with 416 delegates alone.

Several state and local races are also on the ballot. Polls close at 8 p.m.
