Life in Prison: Man convicted of killing mother in Grover Beach sentenced
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - A San Luis Obispo County judge has sentenced 27-year-old Levente Laszlo Lazar to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
A jury had found Lazar guilty in the stabbing death of his mother. The Bloomington, Indiana man was convicted for the pre-meditate murder which took place at his mothers home in Grover Beach.
64-year-old Athena Ilona Valentiny was found stabbed to death in her Grover Beach home in October 2018.
The jury also found that Lazar killed his mother for fianncial gain.
A restitution hearing will be held on March 11th. The San Luis Obispo County DA's office is seeking $10,000 in restitution. Lazar will be brought from prison to the courtroom for that hearing.
