AMPSurf holds the Hanger AmpSurf Learn to Surf Clinic
PISMO BEACH, Calif.- On Saturday AMPSurf held a clinic to all people with disabilities, Veterans, and First Responders.
“It gives them the power to do anything they want to do and just tend to learn how to adapt and overcome whatever life may have thrown out them," said Dana Cummings, the President/Founder of AmpSurf.
The clinic taught participants to learn how to surf using adaptive surf therapy.
“It's my first time and I'm disabled. I can't use my right hand and have weakness on my right side. So just being able to understand and being able to surf where I didn't think it was possible,” said Byron Crane, a first time surfer with AmpSurf.
Their mission is to Promote, Inspire, Educate, and Rehabilitate people with disabilities through surfing and other outdoor activities.
“As a volunteer, it let's us give back to the community and help out people that are more in need with any kind of disability. So it's kind of a self fulfilling, self rewarding thing where you get to go help out other people in our community that suffer from different types of disabilities,” said Tony Coscia, a Volunteer.
AMPSurf meets every Saturday from 8-10am in the Addie Street Parking Lot
Anyone is welcome to join and they are always looking for volunteers.
