Fire crews help with grass fire near Highway 101 off-ramp in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Fire crews stopped the forward progress of a grass fire at 9:01 p.m. Friday night that started around 8:49 p.m., according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Two grass fires started near the crossing of Highway 101 but both SBC Fire and Santa Maria helped contain the incident quickly.

The road is now clear without any injuries to report and the cause for the fires are under investigation, according to SBC Fire.
