Ballard Fire 100% contained

LOS OLIVOS, Calif. - A fire that erupted in the Santa Ynez Valley Tuesday afternoon is now fully contained.

The Ballard Fire broke out just before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Tapadero and Ballard Canyon roads near Ballard.

Several homes were threatened by the blaze but firefighters and air drops were able to keep the fire from damaging any homes. One outbuilding was damaged.

Just a few short hours after the fire began, forward progress was stopped after the fire burned 37 acres.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported.
