Cal Fire provides updates on fires burning in Monterey County

Cal Fire is providing updates on the River and Carmel fires that are burning in Monterey County and have forced the evacuations of thousands of residents.

Fire officials will hold a press conference to discuss these fires at 2 p.m.

Smoke from the blazes has drifted south and caused unsafe air conditions in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.
