Annual student art show now on display at Hancock College
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - Allan Hancock College has unveiled its annual Fine Arts Student Art Show.
On Thursday, the college opened the display in the Ann Foxworthy Gallery.
More than 50 students are showcasing their artistic talents during the show, which runs through mid-March.
Inside the display is a vast array of artwork that spans several different mediums including painting, photography, ceramics, mixed media, digital arts, graphic design, drawing and animation.
“It’s wonderful to be able to shine a light on the inspiring work of our fine arts students and showcase the numerous art classes and mediums students have an opportunity to explore at Hancock,” Ann Foxworthy Gallery Director Laura-Susan Thomas said in a statement. “Some of these students are just beginning their journey to become professional artists, while others are continuing to explore their love for the arts and polishing their skills.”
The artwork is created by students in Hancock's 2D and 3D studio arts, applied design/media and photography programs.
According to a release, many of the artists intend to pursue professional careers in fine arts after earning certificates or associate degrees through Hancock programs.
The college added that many of the student artists intend to continue their education at a four-year university or arts program.
A reception for the student artists is scheduled for next Tuesday, Nov. 29 from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the gallery.
The public is invited to view the artwork and meet many of the students.
The Fine Arts Student Art Show will be on display through March 13.
The Ann Foxworthy Gallery is located inside the Academic Resource Center, Bldg L on the Santa Maria campus.
It will be open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m to 7:45 p.m, as well from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Fridays.
The exhibit will be closed on weekends and holidays.
