Lompoc police arrest man for allegedly starting multiple fires around the city

LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Police Department arrested a man for allegedly igniting numerous fires early Sunday morning.

Around 12:12 a.m., Lompoc Fire responded to a vehicle fire, a backyard shed fire and several dumpster fires around the northeast area of town. Police said the fires occurred on the 300 block of North 2nd Street, 900 block of East Oak Avenue and 1400 block of the East Lemon and North Avenue Alley.

Police responded to the scene to help search for the suspect who started the fires.

During their search, officers contacted a 39-year-old man and located evidence that indicated he was responsible for the fires.

The man was arrested at the scene and booked into the Lompoc Police Department Jail for arson.
