Gang member arrested for possession of stolen firearm in Oxnard
OXNARD, Calif. - Oxnard police arrested a known criminal street gang member Friday evening after locating a stolen handgun in his vehicle.
Around 6:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Jeep Grand Cherokee for a vehicle code violation on the 2900 block of South Rose Avenue.
During the stop, police identified the driver as a known gang member within the City of Oxnard who was on probation with search terms.
Following the terms of his probation, Oxnard police searched the man's vehicle and located a loaded .380 semi-automatic handgun that had been hidden inside the car. Additional rounds of ammunition were also located.
After checking records, officers determined the handgun had been reported stolen out of the City of Port Hueneme.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene on multiple felony violations.
