VENTURA, Calif. - Ventura City police arrested a 17-year-old boy after he allegedly prowled in residents' backyards, attempted to break into homes and damaged vehicles Friday night.

Officers received a 911 call around 8:48 p.m. regarding a prowler that banged on a resident's back door on the 300 block of Rancho Drive.

Through further investigation, police discovered the suspected prowler had entered another resident's backyard, damaged a parked vehicle by punching and kicking it and had ransacked another car that was unlocked in a driveway.

The teen also knocked on the front door of a third residence and when the homeowner opened the door slightly, he pushed his way into the home but was successfully pushed out by the owner.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the teen still trying to get inside this third home. He was reportedly covered in blood and moving erratically.

After a brief struggle, the 17-year-old was successfully arrested on charges for prowling, vandalism and residential burglary.
