SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - Simi Valley police arrested 29-year-old Euren Balbuena for stabbing his girlfriend to death Thursday morning.

Police said they responded to a Welfare Check in the area of East Los Angeles Avenue and Emory Avenue around 9:10 a.m. They said a woman, the reporting party, had flagged down citizens in the area.

Police said the woman told citizens that her daughter had been stabbed by her boyfriend who was still inside their apartment.

When officers arrived at the scene, Ventura County firefighters were already treating the woman for facial lacerations. The 51-year-old woman was later transported to the hospital for the treatment of her injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.

The officers found out where the woman's daughter lived and responded to the apartment.

Upon entering, police said they found a 31-year-old woman dead in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds. Upon searching the apartment, officers found the victim's boyfriend, Euren Balbuena, and he was arrested without incident.

During the preliminary investigation, officers determined that Balbuena had assaulted the reporting party during this incident.

Simi Valley Police Department Detectives are continuing the investigation and said it appears that a domestic dispute occurred in the apartment.

Balbuena was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail Thursday evening on the charges of first degree murder and attempted murder.

Simi Valley police would like to remind the public that this case is still under investigation and some details cannot be released to the public due to legal and investigative reasons.
