Ventura police investigate deadly shooting

VENTURA, Calif. - The Ventura Police Command Center received a 911 call about a shooting victim in a parking structure on Harbor Boulevard early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the top level of the structure on the 500 block of Harbor Blvd. There, they located one victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was treated by Ventura City Fire at the scene before being transported to the Ventura County Medical Center. He died from his injuries shortly after.

Numerous witnesses reported seeing the shooting suspects flee the scene in a vehicle.

CHP saw the vehicle shortly after the shooting and attempted to stop it, but the driver refused to pull over. CHP pursued the car.

Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle during the pursuit and ran off the roadway in Oxnard.

Police successfully detained three of the occupants from the vehicle, but one passenger fled.

This is an ongoing investigation. It is unclear what the motive was for the shooting.
