Suspect wanted for assault with a deadly weapon in Ventura

VENTURA, Calif. - Ventura patrol officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting on the 500 block of Thoreau Lane in Ventura on Saturday.

The call came in around 3:12 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a victim with a "superficial wound to the leg."

The victim told police they wanted to seek their own medical treatment for their injuries.

During their investigation, officers discovered that the victim and the suspect are related and got into a fight that night. The suspect reportedly became upset and shot the victim during the argument.

The suspect, identified by police as 24-year-old Vince Romero from Bakersfield, fled the scene and is still at large.

Police said Romero is currently wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.
