Santa Barbara police investigate assault that led to death

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara Police Department received a 911 call early Saturday morning reporting a man who was bleeding near the 1,000 block of Olive Street.

The call came in around 12:54 a.m. Officers responded to the area and located the man with numerous wounds consistent with assault.

Police said the man was transported by AMR to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. He later passed away.

Detectives are currently investigating the incident.
