PORT HUENEME, Calif. - The Port Hueneme Police Department responded to the 500 block of East Surfside Drive at about 5 p.m. Saturday evening after receiving a report of a stabbing.

Officers said the suspect was described as being a Hispanic male in his 20's with a thin mustache, wearing a grey shirt and blue jeans and in possession of a fishing pole. The suspect was last seen fleeing the scene on foot going north on Ventura Road.

Police searched the surrounding area and located the suspect in the area of Hueneme Road and 5th Street.

The suspect was identified as Alejandro Isaiah Ramos, 20, from Port Hueneme. Ramos was detained and was found to have a large straight blade knife concealed on his person which appeared to be stained in blood.

Police then made contact with the victim at the scene and discovered he had sustained a single non-life threatening stab wound on his leg.

The victim told officers that, prior to the stabbing, he had been at the Port Hueneme Pier with his daughter where he observed Ramos disturbing and challenging other patrons to fight.

The victim contacted and spoke with Ramos before walking off the pier with his daughter. Ramos reportedly followed the victim and confronted him in front of Surfside Seafood where an altercation ensued.

During the altercation, Ramos pulled out a large knife and stabbed the victim once in the leg before fleeing the area on foot.

Both the victim and a witness positively identified Ramos as being the suspect who committed the stabbing.

Ramos was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and being in possession of a dirk or dagger knife. He is being held at Ventura County Jail.

Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Port Hueneme Police Department at (805) 986-6541.
