Oxnard Police arrest two suspects for violating parole
OXNARD, Calif. - Two men were arrested by Oxnard Police Saturday morning after attempting to evade police and for the illegal possession of a firearm.
Oxnard Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation around 11 a.m. on Saturday. One passenger exited the car and fled on foot while the vehicle sped away in an attempt to evade police.
Officers pursued the car but cancelled their pursuit after losing sight of the vehicle.
The passenger, identified as Jose Suarez, 31, was quickly found and detained. Suarez was determined to be on active parole.
The runaway vehicle was located unoccupied a short distance away from the scene. Its driver, Juan Medina, 31, was located nearby walking away from the area.
Officers found the vehicle's key in Medina's possession. Medina was also determined to be on active parole.
During the investigation, police found that Medina had discarded a loaded firearm from the vehicle and damaged another unoccupied, parked car.
Medina was arrested for various felony weapons charges, evading police and for a parole violation. Suarez was arrested for a parole violation.
