Wanted man arrested after pursuit in Solvang
SOLVANG, Calif. - A man wanted on two outstanding warrants was arrested following a foot pursuit in Solvang Friday.
At around 3 p.m., Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies stopped a car in the area of Willow Drive and First Street in Solvang.
According to the sheriff's department, as soon as the vehicle stopped, the driver fled from deputies on foot.
During the chase, the man dropped his wallet which contained his ID. He was identified as Michael Ibison, 33, of Los Alamos. Ibison had two outstanding warrants for failure to appear on drug charges and a felony no-bail warrant for possession of ammunition by a prohibited person with previous violent felonies.
Santa Barbara County Air Support and two sheriff's dogs assisted in the search for Ibison. Witnesses told deputies that he had entered the riverbed, where the sheriff's dogs eventually tracked him down through a wooden thicket.
Ibison was arrested without incident and taken into custody.
At the time of his arrest, deputies found a large fix blade knife on his person and methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was found in his vehicle.
