ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - A lieutenant with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office was arrested in San Luis Obispo County last month.

The lieutenant, identified as 55-year-old Brenda Maynard, was arrested in Arroyo Grande on Nov. 24.

According to the Arroyo Grande Police Department, Maynard was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication after officers received a call about a disturbance at the Rooster Creek Tavern in Arroyo Grande.

Police said officers had spoke with the woman and she became uncooperative and identified herself as an off-duty Santa Barbara County Sheriff's lieutenant.

Due to concerns over her own safety, she was taken into custody and booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail.

The arrest is considered a low-level misdemeanor.
