Teenager arrested in connection to three Oxnard armed robberies
OXNARD, Calif. - A 16-year-old male was apprehended by Oxnard police after matching the description of an armed robber.
Oxnard police responded to reports of an armed robbery at the Shell Gas Station at 1400 S. Oxnard Blvd at 12:51 p.m. According to police, the teenager entered the convenience store, brandishing a firearm. The teen then took an undisclosed about of money as well as some food items. The teenager then ran from the business.
Just 30 minutes later, at 1:19 p.m., officers responded to reports of a second armed robbery at Fiesta Liquor at 1637 S. Oxnard Blvd. Officers were still at the scene of the first armed robbery. Similar to the first robbery, the teen entered the store, showed the firearm, and demanded cash. He took an undisclosed amount of money and ran from the business.
Another 30 minutes later, at 1:50 p.m., officers heard of a third armed robbery at Mr. Kwiks market at 1309 Saviers Road. For a third time, a teen entered the store, brandished a firearm, took an undisclosed amount of money, and ran from the business.
A patrol officer in the area saw a teen who matched the description of the suspect in the 1200 block of S. Oxnard Blvd. The officer told the teen to stop but he ran into an alley. The officer chased after the teen and was able to arrest him.
The teenager was found with a handgun and a large amount of money. The teen was lodged at the Ventura County Juvenile Justice Center.
