Oxnard teen arrested for possession of loaded gun

OXNARD, Calif. - The Oxnard Police Department arrested a fifteen-year-old teen for carrying a loaded gun Wednesday.

Officers were patrolling the area of a recent homicide, specifically Perkins Road and Clara Street in South Oxnard around 8:00 pm. They observed a group of people nearby and noticed a person leave after seeing them.

The officers followed the person who left and saw him dispose of an object beneath a car. They approached him and also found he had tossed a loaded gun under the car.

Officers think the teen disposed of the gun to avoid arrest. He was was arrested for firearm violations and taken to the Ventura County Juvenile Justice center.
