Burglary suspect arrested in Oxnard
OXNARD, Calif. - The Oxnard Police Department responded to a report of a commercial burglary at a cafe in downtown Oxnard early Sunday morning.
The burglary took place in Tomas Café at 622 South A Street around 1:35 a.m.
Officers said private security personnel saw the suspect leaving the cafe and discarding a cash register.
Shortly after police arrived on the scene, 22-year-old Juan Cardenas was spotted running through the businesses in Heritage Square.
After officers detained Cardenas, they received news of a second burglary that had taken place at El Pollo Norteno on South Oxnard Boulevard earlier that night.
Like the cafe burglary, El Pollo Norteno's cash register was also removed.
The registers from both businesses were located at the scene.
Cardenas was arrested for two counts of burglary under Penal Code 459.
