Man arrested in Ojai for starting gas station fire

OJAI, Calif. - A man was taken into custody on Tuesday at a gas station in Ojai, accused of using gasoline to start a fire.

Police say the fire was started Tuesday evening at the Shell station located at 1124 Maricopa Hwy.

Officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious fire at the gas station.

When they arrived, they found a large display sign engulfed in flames and a motorcycle leaning against its base.

Deputies said they located the owner of the motorcycle, Juan Carlos Arellano, at a local motel.

Arellano confessed to purposefully using gasoline to start the fire.

His bail was set at $100,000. Arellano is facing possible charges for arson.
