Santa Barbara City College Transfer Fair kicks off
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - For students at Santa Barbara City College, the Transfer Fair was like walking into a gold mine.
“I came here to get some food … and then once I saw the schools i was more interested in it … it helps kids figure out where they want to go," said student Bracken Fleming of Santa Barbara City College.
“It helps because I wanna branch out and explore more schools and high education … so it’s really awesome to see all these schools come together," said student David Aguilar of Santa Barbara City College.
Representatives from more than 70 colleges and universities chatted with students about higher education possibilities.
“It’s going really well a lot of students are interested in the different study formats online or in person," said admissions counselor Kevin Acosta of Mount Saint Mary's University.
Organizers believe more students at SBCC are showing an interest in higher education at this year's Transfer Fair.
"I’m interested in business but after seeing all this, there’s so many more opportunities," said student Gary Winthorpe of Santa Barbara City College.
Students got a crash-course in admissions requirements, academic programs, and financial aid among other topics.
"Good vibes so yeah that’s kind of what I’m just doing today trying to figure out like what I'm got what I’m gonna do for the future cause I’m in automotive right now," said student Jonathan Santamaria of Santa Barbara City College.
"It makes it seem far more possible far more real you know," said Winthorpe.
Santa Barbara City College kicked off its annual SBCC College Transfer Fair and College Night Fair on Wednesday, October 30.
Representatives are from a wide range of postsecondary institutions.
They discussed majors, course offerings, admission requirements, college life, and other related college information.
