San Luis Obispo county opens storm debris collection centers

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. – Due to damage from local rainstorms, the County of San Luis Obispo has set up free collection sites for storm related debris.

Collection bins will be available beginning on Monday, Jan. 23 at the following places and times:

• Oceano: Oceano County Airport parking lot. Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• Santa Margarita: Santa Margarita Community Hall parking lot, 22501 I St. Monday–
Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
• Creston: Creston Rodeo Grounds, 6180 Webster Rd. Monday-Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Non-storm related debris will not be accepted.

State and federal regulations require storm debris to be sorted into the following bin categories:

• Recyclables
• Organic/yard debris (no dirt)
• Furniture/mattresses
• Appliances (except those categorized as E-waste)

Additional debris collections spots will be added in the coming days.
