WASHINGTON (AP) — A judge has begun questioning potential jurors in the seditious conspiracy case against former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio and four other members of the extremist group charged in the attack on the U.S. Capitol. Jury selection began Monday after the judge denied defense attorneys’ last-minute bid to delay the trial. Defense attorneys had pushed to postpone jury selection in the high-profile case over action by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection. The trial got underway hours before the Jan. 6 committee said it was urging the Justice Department to bring criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and his allies.
