Firework sales kick off in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif. — Firework sales begin in Santa Maria Tuesday afternoon, and the city has some rules on when residents can use them.

According to the City of Santa Maria, residents can buy fireworks starting Tuesday, but can only use them between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on Independence Day.

If anyone uses them outside that timeframe, there will be a $1,000 fine.
