Madrid boosts defense by signing Rüdiger from Chelsea

MADRID (AP) — Real Madrid has signed Antonio Rüdiger from Chelsea on a free transfer. It’s a four-year contract. The Spanish and European champion called Rudiger “one of the best defenders in the world.” Madrid is strengthening its squad a few days after becoming European champion for a record-extending 14th time. The Germany international will be officially introduced on Monday.
