Suspect involved in single-car accident flees CHP by foot, arrested on DUI charges
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. – A suspect involved in a single-vehicle car accident on Highway 154 early Monday morning fled officers by foot and was taken into custody for driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Just before 6:30 a.m. the CHP reported that a car was driving at high speeds, passing cars unsafely, and crossing the double yellow lane markers. The suspect vehicle rolled over, and the driver ran out through the bushes and toward Lake Cachuma, according to the CHP.
The driver continued to flee by foot westbound on the eastbound right-hand shoulder, according to the CHP.
The suspect was eventually caught and taken into custody at the Santa Barbara County Jail for hit-and-run and driving under the influences charges, the CHP said. There were no reported injuries.
