Magnitude 3.4 earthquake felt in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - An earthquake described as a quick jolt was felt by some in the Santa Barbara area Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 2:12 p.m. about 6 miles south of the coast of Santa Barbara.
According to the United States Geological Survey, more than 160 people reported feeling the brief earthquake, with most describing the intensity as "light."
According to the USGS, the earthquake registered as a 3.4 on the Richter scale. USGS also reports that the earthquake's depth was about 10.8 km - or 6.7 miles.
