Major upgrades underway at VCMC Pediatrics Unit
VENTURA, Calif.-- Ventura County Medical Center Pediatrics Unit is getting a major upgrade.
The old portion of the county hospital is currently under construction in a couple of different areas on the second floor. It will be transformed into a 16 bed pediatric unit. VCMC was recently granted a $15 million dollar grant for the project that is expect to be underway early next year.
Across the hall on the same floor is another exciting project. VCMC announced that construction has already started in building a Ronald McDonald Family, and Quiet Room. This marks the third one in California.
“The Ronald McDonald Family Room is a place for families who have children here to come and get a nap or shower,” said Amy Towner, who is the Chief Executive Officer for the Health Care Foundation for Ventura. “They can wash clothes, have a meal, and there is also a family room. It is very special and unique.”
The $1.2 million dollar project is expect to be completed by November of this year. The funding is provided by the Ronald McDonald Foundation, The County of Ventura, all Rotary Clubs in Ventura County, and donations from the community. The hospital has raised $950,000 for the project, but is still seeking more donations to help fill the gap.
