Oxnard Police arrest 18-year-old with stolen gun

OXNARD, Calif. - An early morning arrest by Oxnard police officers took a stolen gun off the streets.

Officers attempted to stop a suspicious person, later identified as Joel Lemus, 18, around 2:18 a.m. on the 1800 block of N. Ventura Road. Police say it appeared Lemus was casing properties for a possible robbery.

When Lemus saw the officer he ran away and discarded a loaded .357 revolver. The gun was reported stolen in 2008, according to police. Lemus was arrested a short distance away.

He was arrested for resisting, obstructing and delaying a peace officers and various firearms related charges.
