SANTA MARIA, Calif. -- Emergency crews are responding to a three-vehicle crash in northern Santa Maria.

It happened around 10:30 Friday morning on northbound Highway 101 near the Donovan Road offramp.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch page, two lanes of traffic are open.

Traffic was backing up past the Stowell Road exit.

CHP said it was conducting traffic breaks as crews cleared the crash.

We have a call in to CHP to find out if there were any injuries.

The crash comes on a day when Central Coast highways are unusually busy.

I-5 was closed at the grapevine on Christmas night due to snowy and icy conditions.

That interstate was reopened late Friday morning.

CHP officers are escorting traffic over the pass as a precaution.

This is a developing story. We will bring you updates as they come in to the newsroom.
