Officers arrest suspect involved in series of robberies in Oxnard

OXNARD, Calif. -- Oxnard Police Department arrest a man in relation to a series of robberies in October on Friday.

Police arrested Robert Villarruel, 21, a transient in the Oxnard area for several outstanding warrant and his connection with multiple robberies.

In October, the Oxnard Police Department Violent Crimes Unit was investigating a series of robberies that took place at the 7-11 on 3280 Saviers Road in Oxnard.

The robberies happened on October 9, 10 and 16 at various times.

During two of the robberies, the suspect brandished a knife at the clerk while demanding money.

The suspect attempted to conceal his identity with a mask during two of the robberies.

Investigators believed all three robberies were connected as there were similarities between the crimes.

Through their investigation, investigators determined Villarruel to be responsible for the robberies.

On November 7th, investigators made contact with Villarruel after he was arrested and taken into custody by Ventura Police Department.

On November 8th, investigators arrested Villarruel for three counts of robbery.
