Smoke from the Maria Fire is impacting Santa Barbara County.

The large wildfire broke out Thursday night in Santa Paula, but the smoke was visible all across Santa Barbara County Friday.

The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District issued an Air Quality Alert. The county said the alert would last through the weekend or until conditions improved.

People who are sensitive to smoke should limit their time spent outdoors.
