Children killed in crash on Highway 154 identified

The identities of two young children killed in a crash on Highway 154 last week have been released.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Coroner’s Office identified the children as 2-year-old Lucienne Gleason and 4-month-old Desmond Gleason.

The sheriff’s department confirmed that the boy and girl are the children of 34-year-old Solvang woman Rebecca Vanessa Goss Bley, who was identified earlier this week as the third person killed in the crash.

The identities were confirmed using a rapid DNA identification system from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The three were killed in a crash on Highway 154 near the Cold Spring Bridge last Friday when a wrong-way driver in a Chevrolet Camaro slammed into the family’s vehicle. The vehicle then burst into flames, which spread to nearby vegetation.

The driver of the Camaro, John Roderick Dungan, 28, suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Investigators are working to determine if Dungan, who has a history of mental health issues, meant to harm himself and others.

On Sunday, hundreds of people attended a private church vigil at the Santa Ynez Valley Presbyterian Church.

Many of the mourners joined thousands of others by signing a Change.org petition called “Not one more on the 154.”

Highway 154 is historically considered to be a dangerous stretch of road in Santa Barbara County.

In recent weeks, California Highway Patrol have upped their staff on certain areas considered to be high-risk. Earlier this week, more than a dozen people were cited for speeding violations.
