SLO County Sheriff’s Office responds to barricaded suspect near Nipomo

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office a man who threatened his fiance is now in custody.

Deputies responded to the home on the 100 block of Old Summit Road near Nipomo High School around 1:15 p.m. after 52-year-old Brian Louis Garzoli threatened his fiance with a meat cleaver and destroyed property.

The woman was able to run outside the home and call the Sheriff’s Office.

Garzoli barricaded himself in the home and refused to surrender to law enforcement.

Authorities say he was the only person inside the home.

Deputies set up a perimeter around the house and the SWAT team arrived.

After repeated attempts to get Garzoli out, deputies initiated a chemical agent into the house to force him to come outside.

Around 7 p.m., he came out and was arrested for criminal threats and committing a felony while on bail.
